NARIT is responsible for research in Astronomy and Astrophysics in Thailand. NARIT has been in the process of setting up a network of robotic telescopes worldwide at some of the best locations available. These include PlaneWave CDK24 or CDK700 telescopes at Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory in Chile, Gaomeigu Observatory in People’s Republic of China, Sierra Remote Observatories in the USA, and soon Siding Spring Observatory in Australia and at a location yet to be selected in South Africa. This Thai Robotic Telescope Network (Thai Robonet) will provide schools, universities and research institutes in Thailand with opportunities to observe objects with time-variability, asteroids, etc., 24 hours a day from both Northern and Southern Hemispheres.
The PlaneWave CDK700 (0.7m) telescope was installed at SRO in December 2015 and has become part of this network since. Click on image below to see video of installation.
